about

The Italian director Angelo Ascerbi (1926-2017) made somewhere in the region of 28 full-length feature films. Poorly judged mixtures of horror and soft-core pornography, three of Ascerbi's movies, Bethany's Cradle (1974), The Three Faces of Janice (1977), and The Hermit of Lake Lugano (1981) featured an electronic score by the exiled East German organist Klaus Morlock. Bethany's Cradle, filmed in England, was never completed, although crude footage of early scenes can be found in some of the intrawebs' less pleasant corners. This compilation offers a representative sampling from all three Ascerbi soundtracks.

We, The Archivists, have recently discovered a trunk full of tapes made by Morlock between 1977 and 1979 when he was resident at Hunter's Cottage, a gamekeeper's property on the Wiltshire/Dorset border. We are working extremely hard to prepare these tapes for release, containing as they do some of the most harrowing music we have ever heard. In the meantime, we hope you will be content with this recycled material, the original masters for which we are proud to have stolen.
